Lissa Power-deFur Ph.D. CCC-SLP

Lissa Power-deFur, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BCS-CL is a professor emeritus at Longwood University where she was instrumental in creating the graduate program and served as program director, chair, and interim dean.  Previously she worked as an administrator at the Virginia Department of Education and in various clinical settings. She received her bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in speech-language pathology at the University of Virginia. In 1984, while SHAV President, Dr. Zahrl Shoeny challenged Lissa to address the cost of graduate education in our field. During her term as Past-President, Lissa and a fabulous team created the Communication Disorders Foundation of Virginia and held its first silent auction.  Lissa is delighted to be returning to the CDF Board to continue the vision of “touching the future.”  Lissa and her husband, Patrick, live in Richmond and have 3 grown daughters and 8 grandchildren.
